#BookReview - #BreakingBones by Robert White

The streets of Preston are alive with music and banter.

But nothing can drown out the sound of breaking bones.

Inseparable since childhood and feared by their community, Tony, Eddie and Frankie are beyond the reach of justice.

The brutal gang, The Three Dogs, are a law unto themselves.

Detective Jim Hacker has watched The Dogs grow from thuggish youths to psychotic criminals. He seems to be the only one who wants to see their empire fall.

Meanwhile Jamie Strange, a young Royal Marine, finds himself embroiled in the lives of The Three Dogs when his girlfriend, Laurie Holland, cuts off their engagement… to be with the most dangerous of The Dogs: Frankie Verdi.

Jamie vows to save Laurie, before Frankie damns them both.

Every dog will have its day.

This gritty, addictive crime story, fizzes with the energy of the eighties.

Breaking Bones will appeal to fans of Martina Cole, Roberta Kray and Stephen Leather.

It's my pleasure to be reviewing Breaking Bones today, many thanks to the publishers a…

Netgalley November: My Goals

Firstly thank you to the lovely Daphne at Winged Reviews for drawing my attention to this brilliant event. Netgalley November is being hosted by Faye from A Daydreamer’s Thoughts, Kayleigh from K-Books and Laura from Bookish Treasures. I'm fairly new to Netgalley but already have a few books lined up to read so what better incentive to get cracking with them?! Also as a newish book blogger it would be lovely to get to know some more of my fellow book lovers. Please come and say hi!

I intend to read mostly Netgalley books this month although I do have a copy of Marbles, Mania, Depression, Michelangelo & Me by Ellen Forney tempting me, plus a couple of others I may find impossible to resist..

Anyway on my list are;

Kicking the Sky by Anthony De Sa
Fairy Tales From The Brothers Grimm by Philip Pullman
1920: America's Great War by Robert Conroy
Second Chance by David Perry
The n-Body Problem by Tony Burgess

I'm also awaiting a few approvals so may add them if selected depending on how well I do.

If you haven't already signed up, you can do so here.

  1. Congratulations with starting your blog!

It is great to get on top of your TBR as soon as possible. When I started out I was far to distracted by all of the shiny, shiny books on Netgalley and I over stretched myself. I am paying for it now as those earlier titles are negatively affecting my %

I have really noticed that my approval rating has gone done since Netgalley started to provide a percentage on my profile.I am really hoping that this challenge will ell me to tackle my Netgalley TBR and improve the situation.

After the first week I am at approx. 50%. I don't know how close to 80% I will get ( my math's isn't very good) but I am aiming to read 8 books during the challenge. So far I have managed 2!

My plan is to start with the recently published and work my way back through my galleys

Now, if only I could resist the urge to request more titles...

    1. Hi Caroline and thanks. I was at a relatively healthy 50% but have just had a few approvals so it's dropped now! As you say hopefully this challenge will help me get on top of it before I'm tempted but too many other titles...
      Thanks for stopping by.
      Karen
