3 Hour Dad by Adam T. Hourlution #BookReview

What would you do if you were suddenly told you were going to be a mum or dad without any notice? How would you react? What thoughts would go through your head? You haven't prepared to be a parent, you've not made any arrangements and nobody in your family is aware.
Now imagine that not even the mum-to-be knew that she had been hiding a little person inside her tummy the entire time.
One day Adam, just your average, typical guy receives a call from his mother-in-law (to be !) summoning him to the hospital following his girlfriend being rushed in with suspected appendicitis only to discover that she is in fact having contractions and has been admitted to the labour ward.
This heart-warming and true story invites readers to step into Adam's shoes and experience what it is like to be a 3 Hour Dad.
A proportion of sales is donated to a random act of kindness fund.

I was delighted when Adam contacted me with a lovely email asking if I'd be interested in reviewing his short ebook about his very sudden transition to fatherhood. I tend to read a lot of dark crime or rather harrowing books on Hair Past A Freckle and so the occasional palate cleanser is a welcome change - particularly when it is a true story.
Adam's life changed beyond all comprehension when his girlfriend's mum phoned him in the night to tell him his girlfriend was in hospital having their baby. Just a few hours earlier his thoughts had been consumed by a eBay auction as he successfully bid on a vintage Star Wars figure, without the faintest idea that he was shortly about to become a father. Most of us who are parents have months to become used to the idea but Adam and Lyndsey had just a few hours. Only the weekend before they'd been on an activity weekend where Lyndsey had abseiled  - completely oblivious to the new life inside of her. I must admit to feeling a little envious here, I had hyperemesis with my first daughter and had to go into hospital twice to be put on a drip so the thought of nine months of normality rather than weeks of vomiting is something I can barely imagine.
That said, the emotional shock is hard to comprehend, let alone the practical considerations. Adam has a wonderful, self-deprecating sense of humour but his obvious pride and love for "his girls" really shines through. 3 Hour Dad is a quick read, I read it during a couple of lunch breaks and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this touching book. Adam uses a percentage of sales from his ebook to buy gifts for unsuspecting recipients so for just a few pounds you can treat yourself to a humorous and heartwarming little book and also help brighten somebody's day! Adam's little daughter is very lucky to have such a fun and loving dad who has clearly embraced his unexpected new role. I'd like to thank him for sending me a copy of his book and wish him and his family every happiness for the future.
